Where to Stay in Hoi An – 11 Best Hotels in 2024

Where to Stay in Hoi An – 11 Best Hotels in 2024

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Hoi An exhibits a mix of French, Japanese and Chinese influence. This delightful town is one of our favourite places in the world. Characteristic bright yellow buildings line the lantern-filled streets while colourful boats cruise down the Thu Bon River.

There are plenty of amazing places to stay in Hoi An, but many aren’t within walking distance of the old town. Instead, there are hotels on the beach or the outskirts of the city. All the hotels in Hoi An which we recommend here are within a few minutes walking distance of the old town and less than two km away from the Town Bridge, one of the town’s main attractions.

For first timers, you will want to stay in accommodation as close to the old town as possible. This is the part of town you see in the photos and it certainly pays to stay within walking distance! Most of the things to do in Hoi An are found in the Old Town, but it’s easy enough to book a GRAB or ride a bike to the beach.

We’ve split the hotels out into budget, mid-range and luxury so you’ll be able to find a place to suit your price range. The exact locations, pricing and customer ratings are also included to make sure you have all the information available before making your decision.

Where to Stay in Hoi An

Hoi An is a small town, however, there are a lot of amazing places to stay. The best areas typically revolve around two key locations – the Hoi An Old Town and the beach. How you choose depends on your preferences, budget and means of transport. Here’s a run down on our top picks.

Hoi An Old Town

Hoi An Old Town is the historic center of Hoi An and is our top place to stay. Also called Hoi An Ancient Town, this area is marked out as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to it’s historical significance within Vietnam. When you see photos of Hoi An, this is where they are taken. Expect old buildings, a blend of French, Chinese and Japanese architecture, and vivid, bright colours.

If your budget can stretch, we typically advise travellers to stay as close to the Old Town as possible. Although the best hotels in Hoi An are dotted right in the heart of the Old Town, there are a few above that are located within a short walk to all the major sites and restaurants.

Anh Hoi

Anh Hoi is our next favourite area to stay in Hoi An. This is largely due to it’s extremely close proximity to the Hoi An Old Town, in fact, it is reached by walking across the iconic Japanese Bridge.

Similar to the Old Town, a lot of the buildings here are still boldly coloured with lanterns hung up. The food in Anh Hoi is also great, especially with the nearby Hoi An Night Market located here.

Cam Pho

Cam Pho is a great budget pick that surrounds the iconic Hoi An Old Town just further down the river. Cam Pho is super close to the Old Town and everything it offers. The accommodation here is great and widely considered a bit more affordable than the previous two suburbs.

Hoi An Beach

If you’re more interested in relaxing by the beach, Hoi An is actually home to one of the nicer beaches in Vietnam. Although we love the Old Town and prefer to make trips out to the beach, many travellers opt to flip this around. Instead, you can choose to stay and a beach resort on Hoi An Beach then make your way in to town to see some of the sighs – not a bad option!
